For your final project, you will be a creating a visual presentation that will teach your listeners about some of the basics of Psychology. You will pick a topic, event, book, movie, or tv series to use as the basis of your presentation. You will teach at least ten basic psychology concepts that you learned about this semester through your topic.
You can pick one of the following options to help guide you through the podcast.
- Pick at least ten total terms or concepts that cover five different units.
- Example: This is a non-exhaustive example I created for Harry Potter. These descriptions are not complete and you should have more. They are just here to give you an idea of what the planning process would look like. Look at these PowerPoint slides as a more complete example.

- Learning
- Classical Conditioning- Wizards everywhere have been conditioned to fear the name Voldemort.
- Operant Conditioning (Token Economy)- Inner house competition is based off of a point system. If kids do something good, they earn points for their house.
- Brain Physiology
- Endocrine System- Throughout the book (or movie) series, Harry is progressing through puberty. At this point in his life, his hormones are all out of balance which can cause strange feelings or outbursts. We see this in book four and five for sure when Harry starts to show interest in the opposite sex (Cho Chang) and in book five when he has a hard time controlling his emotions.
- Human Development
- Identity vs Role Confusion- This is all of the characters who are students in Harry Potter. All of them are in adolescence and trying to find their identity. More detail would breaking this down for a single character
- Motivation and Emotion
- Self Efficacy- By the end of book 7, Harry has high self efficacy about his abilities to face Voldemort.
- External locus of Control- Voldemort believe in a prophecy, therefore believing that the future is not within his control. This drives the story between him and Harry.
- Clinical Psychology
- Antisocial Personality Disorder- Voldemort. Lack of empathy. Kills and tortures without remorse. Wants/loves power.
- Social Psychology
- Availability Heuristic- Throughout the books and movies, the information we get about Professor Snape leads us to believe he is a "bad" person and is untrustworthy (Availability heuristic). Once we get all of the available information on Snape, we understand that he is brave and capable of love. We truly understand his full character.
- Representative Heuristic- Stereotypes that are talked about in the book about each house. Students from one house will make snap judgements about students from another house based on their house alone. Example- many Gryffindors believe that all Slytherins are bad and more capable of becoming dark wizards than students from other houses or their own.
- Memory
- Memory Distortion- Professor Slughorn in book 6. Distorts memory of interaction with young Voldemort to make himself look better and to help him cope with past decisions.
- Learning
You may use PowerPoint, Google Slides, Canva, or any other visual presentation method to complete your project.
All files need to be uploaded by the 14th. Presentations will be on the 15th and 16th.
